Brother's Birthday! :)

Yup, it's my brother's birthday today! I can't believe he's 12... O.O
Scariness. ;D
Anyways, my grandparents came in from out of town and them and the rest of our family are heading out for a delicious family dinner! <3
Just thought you should know why I won't be on the forums tonight. ;D
Also, I won't be on the forums tomorrow morning either, as I'll be taking an entrance exam for a high school. An all boy's Catholic high school, at that... -____-
I really don't want to go there for school, but it's up to my parents.... :(

  1. Happy birthday drew's brother ^-^

D: shouldn't it be your choice where you go to school...? I went to a naff school cos I wanted to...even though I could've done way better (I know, I'm so modest)

It should, but my parents don't care what I want regarding schools... My dad grew up in the same town my parents are raising me in, and he hated the public schools system. So he feels like he needs to recreate his life the way he wanted it to be through me... D:

  3. Are you a Catholic? And if so, how strict?

You should at least have a say in the matter. You can't let your parents decide all on their own. Tell them that you'll have to start making your own decisions sooner or later, that you would prefer another type of school, and look for a school you would like. Then find info about that school and tell your parents (with very good, valid arguments to support your choice) why you'd prefer to go there. If that doesn't work, I don't know what you could do.

  5. @Jess: Yeah I'm Catholic, I guess we're pretty strict. We don't go to church as often as we like, but we enforce everything.
And I've tried all that so many times... They don't care. :(

  6. Then try it again! And again! And again! And did how did you support your claim of why you wanted to go to another school?

And I agree with Emma - my life seems so much better now; at least I was allowed to choose my own school 5 years ago!

  7. I've tried everything in the book... Explained how the school doesn't specialize in what I want to do in life, how it focuses on sports where I thrive in the arts... I've tried everything. Trust me. x]

  8. Then, one last option remains. Get your brother to work with you - if you have to go to that school, so has he.

  9. Grr. But what school do you want to go to?

  10. Just a public school... God forbid I actually want my parents to save their money. x]

  12. But what public school? If you don't give them an alternative, I can understand why they don't listen.

  13. I did give them an alternative... I'm just not mentioning the school's name over the internet...

  14. Ok. But what exactly is their point?

Also, maybe you can convince them to let you take a test at the school of your choice too? (No obligations, just a test.)
